Topics covered include: carbine selection & setup, stance, zeroing sights*, sight alignment and trigger control, field stripping & maintenance. Other subject matter that is covered includes reloads, presentation, transition to handgun, strong side & weak side shooting, shooting positions, use of cover, & introduction to different skill drills including dry fire and bullseye shooting. Malfunction drills, timed fire drills, shooting on the move,  moving targets, team movement drills, stress courses and more.

*For classes at Blue Mountain - please come with a zeroed carbine.

  • REQUIREMENTS:

    • Carbine: Serviceable duty grade carbine in .223/5.56, 7.62x39, 9mm, .40 S&W or .45 ACP.
    • The class is geared towards the AR-15 / M-4 carbine, but other proven platforms are acceptable.
    • Serviceable sling (tactical type preferred.)
    • Minimum of 5 serviceable carbine magazines
    • Optics – (Optional, but highly suggested)
    • Weapon mounted flashlight (if a night shoot is part of the class)
    • Minimum 1 carbine magazine pouch or method to carry at least two spares magazine(s)
    • 800 rounds of Carbine Ammunition
    • Eye and ear protection (electronic hearing protection is preferred)
    • Suitable range wear depending on the season
    • Weapon cleaning & lubrication supplies
    • Good attitude OPTIONAL GEAR:Duty style semi-automatic pistol (minimum 9mm caliber)300 rounds of pistol ammunition1 spare magazine & a serviceable holster - NO crossdraw, shoulder, ankle or Blackhawk Serpa holsters - I WILL ALLOW SERPA HOLSTERS ONLY IF YOU ARE AN ARMED PROFESSIONAL & IT IS YOUR ISSUED DUTY HOLSTER
